The 24 hour tutorial.

Here’s my take on the 24-hour image challenge.
OK open up Photoshop FILE>OPEN and open up your face image now go to IMAGE >DUPLICATE in the AS: box typed in dismap and tick Duplicate Merged Layers Only. Then FILE > SAVE AS call it dismap.psd and close it.
Back to the face image (original not the dismap.psd).
Drag it to the CREATE A NEW LAYER to copy it and turn off the background image.
We are now working on BACKGROUND COPY.(which you can rename HIGHLIGHT)
IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>DESATURATE(this will make it look like greyscale).

It will look like this.



IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST



You want it as white as possible with black parts about +70 for both(depends on your image after saying that). OK a new Layer this will be Layer1. Now fill it with the numbers PATTERN.



(I won´t go into how to make the pattern; you can download it by right clicking on it). EDIT>FILL>PATTERN and choose the number pattern. Change the Layer mode to MULTIPLY. Name the Layer PATTERN instead of Layer1.



OK LAYER>NEW FILL LAYER>SOLID COLOUR and pick a colour you like, (I used #0000FF). Change to Layer mode to COLOUR BURN and OPACITY to 50%.



OK now listen up copy your original layer again (BACKGROUND LAYER) and go to IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>DESATURATE again, drag it up to the top. So you have from the BOTTOM up BACKGROUND LAYER (OFF), BACKGROUND COPY (which is called HIGHLIGHT), LAYER1 (PATTERN) then the COLOUR FILL LAYER and then your new Desaturate Layer (the one you have just done) Rename it SHADOW LAYER. Now on this layer hit Ctrl + L on your keyboard to bring up your LEVELS and try and make it a bit darker by moving the left triangle inwards. Once your happy with it hit OK and change the LAYER MODE to PINLIGHT and OPACITY 50%. I added a layer mask for the eyes, paint in the layer mask in black over the eyes.



Now back down to the PATTERN LAYER and go to FILTER>DISTORT>DISPLACE (I used a scale of one (1) for both and stretch to fit TICKED and Repeat Edge Pixel TICKED). Click OK and now do you remember that we saved a dismap.psd at the very beginning find it and click OPEN. You will see the PATTERN hug the shape of your face (not much but it does). Back up to the top and a new Layer on top, now this is were you are going to paint in BLACK the shadows. E.g. all on the right side (see my image). Use a soft round brush vary the opacity.



Once done and happy with it another new Layer on top and paint in white the highlights. E.g. all on the left (see my image).



Now the text, new Layer at the top for the uk2usadaz text I used the font called LCDDisplayCapsSSK and for the 24 I used the font called LiquidCrystal. OK so type in what you want in any colour and LAYER>RASTERIZE>TYPE. Ctrl + Click on your text Layer and go to EDIT>STROKE I used 2px Outside (remember to use a different colour or you will not see it). Ctrl + D to DESELET it. Ctrl + Click on the text Layer again EDIT>STROKE same settings as before but with the main colour of the text this time. Ctrl + D to DESELT. That´s it hope you have enjoyed doing the tutorial and that it wasn´t too hard.
